Advent Study – DAY 14

In the,

“but not of the”,

Your Life in “Two Worlds”!

OBEY Bulb 2Resources for HOPE’s Battles:  By “Hooking-Up” and preparing our lives with the discipline to “Obey”, we have access to endless resources for HOPE.  These are not resources that the world can see directly, but spiritual resources that produce alluring and inviting fruits in our lives.   They are attractive qualities, and many will want them, providing an excellent opportunity to witness about God’s goodness and love to them.  Part of the mystery is that, while on earth, and when we “Hook-Up” to become Kingdom believers, we also start our life as part of God’s “Forever Family”, or the Kingdom of Heaven.  Heaven, or God’s Forever Family begins NOW – before we die.  This provides us with limitless spiritual resources.  Unfortunately, this sometimes produces “rage” in unbelievers.  They hate what they cannot understand.  King David asked, “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1)  The answer explains Kingdom Warfare.  Satan had already lost his battle in heaven, and now only has limited time for rebellion on earth.  You are in his “cross-hairs’.

The War of “Two Worlds Is On”:  You now have a front row seat!  John describes this in Revelation 12:7-9.  “Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.”  Satan plans to take his rage and anger out on each soul – including yours.  The Good News is that we can be victorious, “Praising” and “Enjoying” Heaven on earth, even in warfare.  “Therefore, rejoice, O heavens!  And you who live in the heavens, rejoice!  But terror will come on the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.”  Revelation 12:12 (NLT).  We live in the power of Christmas HOPE!

Take 5 minutes:  Read and reflect upon Jesus’ Messages for Navigating HOPE in Two Worlds: and Other Messages for Navigating HOPE in Two Worlds:.  After this bulb, we will take a break from the H.O.P.E. Formula lights/bulbs and address the importance of knowing how to discern TRUTH from lies.

Jesus’ Messages for

“Navigating” HOPE in “Two Worlds”:

  • John 17:15-21 (NLT) “I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth. I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.”
  • John 18:36 (NKJV) “Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.’”
  • 1 John 2:15 (NKJV) ”Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
  • John 11:9 (NKJV) “Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.”
  • John 14:17 (NKJV) “… the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
  • John 8:23 (NKJV) “And He said to them, 'You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.'”
  • Luke 16:8 (NKJV) “So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.”
  • Mark 8:38 (NKJV) “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."
  • John 12:25 (NKJV) “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
  • Matthew 16:26 (NKJV) “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
  • Mark 16:15 (NKJV) “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’”
  • John 16:33 (NKJV) “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
  • John 17:11 (NKJV) “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.”
  • Matthew 7:15 NLT “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.”
  • Matthew 10:17-20 “But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues. You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and other unbelievers about me. When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. For it is not you who will be speaking—it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

It Is Well

Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me

Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can't see

And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

[Bridge x3]
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name [repeat last line during 3rd run]

It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul [x3]
